San Juan: A Culture Unlike Any Other
New Cultural Districts
San Juan is taking a major step in bringing our mix of Latin and Caribbean culture to our visitors starting this month in the form of the Cultural District. The first of other Cultural Districts slated to be created all around the Island, plans call for showing off our culture in its many and varied forms on all main arteries of our capital city.
Being the only area that is both part of the United States with its own Hispanic flair, not only will guests see first hand the richness that is Puerto Rican culture but how culture is contributing to the socioeconomic life of San Juan and improving the quality of urban life.
Activities planned as part of the launching of the Cultural District include art in the parks, rock, classical and jazz concerts and a major show of art by some of Puerto Rico’s finest artists. Trolley transportation will take you along our new Cultural route and restaurants along the way will feature our local food in open-air cafes. Stretching from Old San Juan to Río Piedras, activities will be held both in the streets and in plazas and parks so you, as a visitor to our beautiful shores, will have the chance to see and enjoy and understand our beautiful culture as well.
