Camuy
An unforgettable cave system tour.
Once part of Arecibo, Camuy was founded in 1807 by Petrolina Matos. The name may derive from a Taíno word for what is now known as the Río Camuy. This river is an important part of the Parque de las Cavernas del Río Camuy, a major cave system.
This magnificent 268-acre park is just part of the cavern system carved out of the stone by the river. At the park, you put yourself in the hands of the excellent guides and they give you an informative tour of this natural wonder. The visitors center has walking trails, food facilities and a souvenir shop. Not to be missed.
>How to go: From Rt 22, take the exit for Rt 129 and follow the signs to the park.
