Picture Perfect
Tourism by All and for All Campaign
Puerto Rico has some of the most beautiful natural and historical resources in the Caribbean and beyond, with dramatic beaches from Culebra to Cabo Rojo, rain-soaked tropical forests, limestone caves, coral reefs and colorful colonial mansions. Even our sunsets take on an added beauty when they share the sky with the charcoal silhouettes of a row of palm trees.
To maintain Puerto Rico as a “Picture Perfect” destination, the Puerto Rico Tourism Co (PRTC). is supporting several projects to keep Puerto Rico clean and beautiful. In a new campaign titled “Tourism by All and for All,” the company urges residents and visitors alike to be aware of our responsibilities toward Puerto Rico’s exceptional resources. Each and every one of us – from the lawmaker to the dog owner to the beachgoer – has the power to help or harm the success of tourism in Puerto Rico and its impact on the Island’s economy.
In addition, the PRTC reaches out to leaders of government agencies and mayors of towns and cities across the Island to promote a cleaner Puerto Rico, not only the beaches and forests but also the highways and touristic facilities. One popular annual campaign honors the cleanest town in Puerto Rico. In the past, Dorado, Caguas, Rincón and Cayey have worked hard to earn this distinction, and Tourism encourages all of the Island’s towns and cities to take up the challenge and develop specific plans to keep the Island clean.
“The cleanliness and accessibility of our tourist attractions is a matter of vital importance,” stresses Terestella González Denton, executive director of the PRTC “This is the impression tourists take with them when they visit us.” And the PRTC is working hard to make sure their impression is a positive one.
