SOFO: Old San Juan Culinary Fest
Few places have as many culinary offerings as does Old San Juan. In colonial settings off narrow streets and private courtyards you find foods from Puerto Rico, the Caribbean, Spain, India, Italy, China, Asia, the Middle East, Germany, France, Texas, Greece, Mexico and Japan as well as some very creative fusion dishes.
From Nov. 30-Dec. 3 more than 35 restaurants throughout the historic district take part in the Old San Juan Culinary Fest. Parts of the streets are closed to traffic, tables are set up to create a giant open-air café atmosphere and the chefs pull all stops to make sure the food is extra-ordinary. Diners choose from an array of appetizers, entries, drinks and desserts. In the background, musical and dance groups perform from a dozen stages being set up throughout Old San Juan, and strolling musicians serenade with traditional Island music. There are tastings and exhibitions by both master and future chefs. The festivities begin at 6 pm Thursday through Saturday, at 4pm Sunday.
This is a great way to usher in the holiday season!
